The Art of Eight Limbs: Unleashing the Power of Muay Thai at AMAF

Image
Muay Thai is often referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” because it utilises eight points of contact to strike the opponent: fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Unlike boxing, which uses only the fists, or traditional kickboxing, which includes punches and kicks, Muay Thai integrates the entire body into a seamless and dynamic fighting style. This powerful form of combat dates back centuries and was originally developed in Thailand as a method of battlefield self-defence. Over time, it evolved into a national sport, steeped in tradition, discipline, and respect. Today, Muay Thai is practised worldwide for fitness, self-defence, and competition. Read more..

Shawnee Mae – 28 NOVEMBER 2020

Since I was 15, I have had this strong belief that with passion, anything is possible. Here’s a quote by one of my favourite childhood authors, Roald Dahl that resonates with me; ” I began to realise how important it was to be an enthusiast  if life. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it  & above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good” I  am so deeply passionate about this journey & I have been a subject to the positives that have come from it. I have learnt more than just myself through martial arts. I have gained knowledge about the world & who l am within it.- these 3 lessons have been the big ones. Read more..

That is until I joined Ninjukal Taijutsu when I was 19. I enjoyed the holistic approach of  physical and spiritual development. 7 years on and I end up leaving because shift work got in the way. Working security in nightclubs and then the casino kept me sharp and occasionally our team trained together and picked out things from different styles. We had people  with various backgrounds. Karate, Jujitsu, MMA, BJC, Boxing, Krav Maga and other  systems. There was even a Kyokushin sensei who was a direct lineage from Mas Oyama. Read more..

Martial Arts – Paul Collins April 2018

I believe Martial Arts provides an inner confidence that people pick up on. You might not realize it, but people  who train in martial arts present themselves differently. I think people subtly pick up on little  signals just like a bully would gravitate towards someone lacking confidence, successful confident people  gravitate towards other confident people. I’ve enjoyed this success over the years. My general shy quiet  nature has been enhanced by the inner confidence that comes with martial arts training. Read more..
